Reservoir Computing with FPGA Implementing Digital Spiking Neural Networks

Kose Yoshida visited the laboratory of Prof. Alexandre Schmid, who has outstanding achievements in neuromorphic engineering and physical computing, in order to optimize a physical reservoir (FPGA reservoir) which is a type of material intelligence. The simple implementation of the FPGA reservoir was successfully completed during his visit, and showed us signs of good results, so that we decided to continue the collaboration. In January 2023, Prof. Alexandre Schmid visited to Hokkaido University, and in a month and a half, we achieved to develop a FPGA reservoir with high memory capacity and low resource consumption. Although Mr. Yoshida graduated in March 2023, this joint research with Prof. Alexandre Schmid was taken over by his junior colleague, and will continue with the cooperation of the JSPS Core-to-Core Program. ディジタルスパイキングニューラルネットを実装したFPGAによるリザバーコンピューティング

吉田 広世（北海道大学）

吉田 広世さんには、マテリアル知能の一種である物理リザバー（FPGAリザバー）を最適化するために、ニューロモルフィック工学および物理コンピューティングに関する業績が顕著なAlexandre Schmid先生の研究室に約1ヶ月滞在してもらいました。リザバーの簡易実装は期間内に無事に完了し、良い成果が得られる兆候が見えたため、共同研究は継続されることになりました。2023年1月にAlexandre Schmid先生が北海道大学に来学され、一月半ほどで省リソースで高い記憶要領を持つFPGAリザバーを完成させることができました。吉田さんは2023年3月にご卒業されましたが、この共同研究は吉田さんの後輩に引き継がれ、今後もJSPS Core-to-Core Programのご協力を得てAlexandre Schmid先生と一緒に研究を進めてゆく予定です。この度はご支援誠にありがとうございました。
