Material Intelligence: Exploiting Intrinsic Learning and Optimazation Capabilities for Intelligent Systems

OUTLINE OF PROGRAM

Overview

The Japanese Core-to-Core Program “Material Intelligence: Exploiting Intrinsic Learning and Optimization Capabilities for Intelligent Systems” is designed to establish internationally-renowned, cutting-edge research hubs in neuromorphic in-materia computing.

These multilateral hubs are constructed and operated by establishing sustainable, collaborative relationships among research/education institutions in Japan and numerous countries around the world. In addition to advancing research in these fields and developing core research and education hubs, the program focuses on fostering the next generation of trailblazing young researchers.

In Japan and its counterpart countries, namely the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Poland, and the USA, core institutions conduct collaborative research exchanges in the form of joint research projects, seminars, and researcher exchanges, which are organized and performed effectively under the program.

Main Goals

Realizing the learning and optimization capabilities via in-materia neuromorphic computing using nanomaterials, organic molecules, metal complexes, polymers, nanotubes, quantum dots, and semiconductors.
